Job loss causes hardship for family

11/04/2011

Last night  there was a news story about a family in South Carolina. They are a typical decent family  with four children living at home. The father lost his job and the mother was working. Her salary was barely enough to make ends meet. They went through all their accrued savings and had minimal balances to keep bank accounts open. There were weeks when all they could afford to eat was soup. I'm willing to bet they could not get any assistance from the government because they made too much money but if they  knew how to work the system they would have about $8,000 a month coming in tax free money. They are an honest American family.
This is a tragic situation causing financial hardship for theses people. the sad thing is it can happen to anyone at anytime. As a matter of fact it happens every month to US workers who lose their jobs when companies outsource the labor to other countries. Increased population, immigration and companies reducing costs to make higher profits are also major contributors. We no longer have the jobs to give future college graduates. You really need to ask yourself how safe is your job? thousands of people felt indispensable until they got a pink slip. How would you and your family survive? Remember there are very few, if any, jobs to apply for. this is a definite reality check.
The family in South Carolina certainly got a reality check but then they never expected it, They live from day to day with no relief in sight. Imagine there are no health benefits and some days little too eat. I lived through this myself as a kid and know what they are now having to deal with. If I were a neighbor they would not go hungry. The worldwide wall street protests are all about financial fairness to all. In the US. That includes ceasing all financial aid to foreign countries when we need it here. Maybe someone should tell Hilary Clinton to start helping  Americans.

Where to Find Excellent Hard to Find Wines

10/13/2011

It may surprise you to learn there are probably thousands of wineries producing excellent wine that never makes it to your local store. These are form smaller family owned vineyards that produce limited quantities of wines and can't meet market demands in addition to being unable to effectively market their product.California wine country is one such place that has a surplus of great wineries but many can't get their wines to larger markets. The quality of their wine is often far superior to many on the shelf in your local store. A simple idea became a solution.
In 1990  A California couple came up with a an idea that has continued to grow. Bruce and Pam Boring started the California wine club. They did this as a way to help take the guessing work out of selecting a bottle of wine by doing all the work and offering a monthly bottle of great wine. The wine club in turn aided many vineyards owners in selling their wines. They pioneered the field and years later others came along and started the same wine club businesses. Cellars wine club opened in 1999. They kept expanding their lines of wine and added a variety of wine clubs to satisfy their customers needs. The clubs offer a great variety of wines but always try to have an affordable range of prices. cellars has been offering a a great slection of 12 bottles priced at $5.90 a bottle.  These clubs buy in bulk , get good prices and pass the savings along to their customers. Wine Legacy is another club that offers great deals all the time. Their home page is filled with wines from around the world marked at half price. I like to think of their site as a no frills staight up wine sales store just offering great prices.

checkout mistakes - a costly chronic problem

09/29/2011

Most of the Cashiers at the markets out here in Southern California are very friendly and helpful. They have good personalities, always say hello and will strike up a little conversation. I make frequent stops at some local markets and have found in time that there have been mistakes on the receipts, charges for items missing or overcharged on other items, reductions not taken off. So these little mistakes can cost you in the long run and they do add up. Once in a while it may be in your favor but like a slot machine you will end up losing. The cashiers are only human so you have to work with them. Step to the side after they ring you out. Check the receipt and make sure all the items you bought are there and properly charged for. Those few minutes will pay off.
Recently it was revealed the number of mistakes made by cashiers were far more numerous than expected. Most were in favor of the store and have been bringing in a lot of extra revenue.  The mistakes occur everyday to thousands of unsuspecting people. This isn't  done on purpose but is the result of pricing errors,  charging you for other peoples items, missing coupons and sale prices. You can easily be overcharged for produce. It is not marked so we have to rely on the cashier.  Sometimes the marked down items are rang in at regular prices.  As you can see there is lots of room for errors. You have to be the one to catch it before leaving.

If your like millions of Americans chances you have some sort of problem are taking medication for it. Lets face facts that all medications have some sort of side effects, some worse than others. Unfortunately the doctors who prescribe these drugs don't use them or have to deal with the side effects.  They try to pacify the patient and keep them on the drugs. In the meantime they get a nice kick back for pushing some of these drugs while you get all the ill effects and have to pay for it out of your pocket.
The range of side effects is huge. Some drugs have a list that reads like a short story. After reading the side effects you almost become alarmed at what else may go wrong after taking the drugs. One of the most irritating side effects I had to deal with was weight gain

It said free but is it?

Seems that many people have something they are giving away for free or so it says free. You see an offer that looks inviting and says "free" so you spend some time reading about it, filling a form and BAM. You get transported to a page that wants your credit card number. Hey, what happened to free? That was a free sign up. Then you have the free trial that becomes an auto pay after 30 days. Try and stop it. That becomes a nightmare on Elm Street for sure. They get a few months worth of payments before thinking about responding to you.
There is the company that has the free product offer. Sounds good but after you get there you have sign up for credit cards, magazine subscriptions and a list of other costly items and they still refuse to give you the free items. Does the world need monthly free credit reports? A huge red flag should go off in your head when they ask for the credit card. Just read the fine print and you'l see it isn't free. You can get a free report from the credit companies every year by law.  Over 11,000 complaints were filed by people who signed up for those infamous free credit reports. they paid dearly before getting it stopped.

Two Jersey Housewives duke it out at local Walmart

09/09/2011

This is a true story witnessed by a family member just oustside of Edgewater,NJ. It happened in July during the height of the heat wave they were having. This was the real deal, two women from Jersey doing battle in public. This is reality.
The mid-summer heat wave was taking its toll on people.heat cn cause many bad reactions including illness and short tempers. My brother in Law and hhis Wife werer at a locle Walmart in NJ one weekend in mid july and witnessed the effects of heat on two couples. Apparently one woman turned the corner in the store with her shopping accidnetally hitting another woman. She dropped what she had in her hands and began to become argumentative. Within a few minutes both women were physiccally attacking one another. According to my brother in law, Charlie, they were beating the hell out of one another. He stood on the sidelines and watched as any red blooded male would do.
The husbands came in to end the battle but they both started to have words and within minutes erupted into a fist fight. the store employees scattered. Charlie watched thinking this was like front row seats for an HBO fight presentation. Eventually the fight was broken up and the couples went their own way. They may not have finished shopping but at least they provided some entertainment for the shoppers. There are some Lessons to be learned here. Learn how to drive before operating a shopping cart in Jersey. Second lesson is don't argue with anyone in Jersey, especially a Jersey Housewife, just aplolgize and walk away.

Two Dogs Death Sentence Reprieved

Two male dogs in a shelter would have had there live ended shortly had it not been for efforts to find them a no kill shelter. The scenario played out like a movie scene with a last  minute call by the governor to stop an execution. In this case it was a combined effort of five people to stop the execution. The crime these two male  10 month old pups committed was the same thousands others die for, being homeless and trying to survive. The two dogs, brothers and part Irish Wolfhound had been roaming in our neighborhood for over a week before coming to us one late afternoon. They were friendly, had no ID and undoubtedly were hungry and thirsty. We have seen dozens of dogs roaming the streets that eventually ended up dead from drivers using them as target practice out here. Oh yes they do, just like the people they run over.out here at least once a day. So now we had to ask do we turn our backs on them or try to help?

Oil Prices Again inflated by Investors

03/05/2011

Familiar with the commodities market? No? Keep reading. All oil , imported and US production, is under contract by speculators bidding futures contract on oil prices. The producers hold back on oil production to get a higher price while getting the blame for inflated prices. The crude oil never sees the refinery until the investors have inflated the prices. We are all led to believe it is imported oil but millions of barrels of crude produced in the US are also traded on the commodities market. It gets worse.

Mosque on 911 site? Never. Sick Politicians

07/15/2010

Paragraph.
I received an email linking to a video that was very disturbing. The video was from a British man, Pat Condell, following developments at ground zero in New York City. He was astonished to learn the very religion that took down the World Trade Centers and killed so many people was about to have a mosque built on it.  The politicians were supporting the idea and probably using tax payers money to fund this 100 Million dollar idea.

This is a real slap in the face to Americans.  This cannot happen or be allowed to take place. Once you view the video and hear what the man has to say I'm certain you'll be ready to make phone calls and begin picketing. You have to understand that these people can't be trusted. They build mosques on grounds where they have caused destruction and death as a sign of victory. They tried it in England and were defeated.

We are constantly being warned by other countries to beware of the influx of Muslims. They have infiltrated many other countries are a threat due to their religious beliefs. Our politicians need to wake up or be woken up. Don't allow this mosque to be built on ground zero. Remember these people kill for religion. Remember 911.  Please go to the video link below and take a few minutes to watch and listen.
.  twitter this out your list and wake some people up before another religious disaster happens
